In 1718, William Lush endowed land to fund a school in Shaftesbury. His original generosity provides the basis for the Shaftesbury School Foundation. We are a registered UK charity No. 306216.
In the last 10 years, current and former Shaftesbury School students have benefited from almost £1 million in Foundation funding. This has helped staff and students to improve learning opportunities and raise aspirations.
Current students of Shaftesbury School are eligible for Lushtrust funding.
Every year, exceptional leaver students are eligible for special Lushtrust funding.
Some former students are also eligible for 'Old Shastonian' Lushtrust funding.
We fund extra books and equipment to ensure our students have the latest resources.
We fund trips, courses and workshops to provide our students with the best opportunities.
We can help any student to overcome hardship and to raise their aspirations.
All funding is applied for using our online system. You must register and login using the LOGIN button above. All applications are managed electronically via email so applicants must have an email address.
Most funding is applied for by the Shaftesbury School staff on behalf of students. But we accept funding applications from Parents of current students (hardship only) and from former students (see below).
Old Shastonian funding of up to £500 per application is available for former students of Shaftesbury School, who are under the age of 25 at the time of the application.
All funding applications are reviewed and approved by the Trustees of the charity who meet at least once per school term. After any meeting, applicants are automatically informed by email if their application is Approved, Rejected or Referred (more information needed).
The Foundation (aka The Lushtrust) is a charity registered with the Charity Commission of England and Wales (no.306216). You can investigate our annual report and accounts online.
